Kar Wash

Bethany Church has generously agreed to allow our classes to begin fundraising by having a car wash at their facility on 129th street. This will be on April 23rd from 10 till 2. We need lots of parent helpers and many cars to wash. We hope to see you there! We are calling it the Kookaburra Kar Wash!
A kookaburra is a bird unique to the Australian rain forest. It's call sounds like a person laughing! We hope we get to hear one!

We're going to Australia!!!

We have been awarded a grant by a delightful organization called Fund for Teachers. Their mission is to provide funds for enriching summer travel for teachers to inspire and invigorate their teaching. Teachers design their own learning experiences and submit written proposals describing their proposed journey. Our proposal takes us to the Australian rain forest, the Outback and to the coast of Western Australia. We will be seeking examples of animals and plants that fill similar niches to the ones on this continent. In addition we will explore the fossil record of Australia and visit some remarkable examples of erosion on the Australian continent.
Our classes are currently trying to raise money to set aside for preservation, an area of rain forest the size of our combined classrooms. This requires us to raise about $800. Watch for updates regarding our fund raising activities.
