We counted our money today! We made $410 at our car wash and $42.50 selling lemonade. Adding that to Sam's change we had a total of 545.62. After donating 10% of our car wash proceeds back to Bethany Church for the use of their facilities, water and electricity we still have $504.62. Hopefully we will earn more money at the carnival. Mrs. Morris' class is running the Joey Toss.
We are just beginning to work on our last fundraiser, the coloring book about the Australian Rainforest. We need donations of copy paper. If each student can bring one ream of paper we will have plenty.

Raising Money for the Daintree
Our class decided we wanted to raise money to set aside an area of the Daintree rainforest the same size as our classroom. Since we were learning about area we used our new math skills to determine the area of our room. (Length x width = Area) After we determined the number of square meters in our classroom we multiplied that number by the cost to set aside 1 square meter of the Daintree and arrived at the dollar amount of $405. Sam donated his change collection so we started with almost $100.
Our class decided to have a car wa sh. It was the Saturday before Easter, a cool and kind of rainy day, but it was a smashing success. We have included a few pictures.
Keep checking in to find out how much money we made and also to learn more about why we think the Daintree is important to preserve.

Where are we going?

This map of Australia will help you follow our journey. We will begin by flying into Cairns, where we will will drive north to the Daintree Rainforest. It will be winter in Australia when we go in June, but Cairns and the Daintree are in the tropics and it will be warm there.
After 10 days exploring the rainforests around Cairns we will catch a train in Townsville for our Outback adventure. Following our trip to the Outback we will return to Cairns and catch a plane all the way across the continent to Perth. On the west coast we will visit two wonderful examples of erosion, Wave Rock and The Pinnacles Desert. We will then spend a few days in Shark Bay and look forward to telling you about all that this area has to offer.
After a week on the west coast we will fly to Sydney for a couple of days before our 15 hour flight back to the USA.
